What’s nano? Honestly, same (and we study nanotechnology engineering).
Hello! 👋
What’s Nano? is run by a group of nanotechnology engineering undergraduate students and alumni from the University of Waterloo. It was born out of our frustration and exhaustion answering the question “What’s nanotechnology?” all. The. Time. After introducing ourselves. At the beginning of a job interview. By our family watching Infinity War with us after Iron Man builds his new nanotechnology suit.
In the past, we said something like, “It’s at the intersection of science and engineering.” Or, “It’s just a fancier name for materials engineering.” But through our courses and experiences, we’ve realized nanotechnology is incredibly varied, which is why it’s so hard to describe concisely and clearly. It’s also very applicable in today’s technology — just not in the ways you might expect (ex. not nanorobots in your bloodstream).
Our mission is to show the world how people are applying nanotechnology today to solve problems, improve lives, and revolutionize our world. We’re doing so by highlighting the incredible people that are shaping the future of medicine, energy, electronics, robotics, materials, and more through nanotechnology. And bonus: they’ll share advice about how you can too!
So, are you ready to learn about nanotechnology? Let’s go!
